PROVENANCE: Frstlich Hohenzollern’sche Museum, Sigmaringen (Lugt 2759). Goltzius was at the height of his fame as an engraver and publisher in 1588, the year of the Apollo engraving. In very good condition (old hinges verso, horizontal centerfold visible verso), trimmed outside of the borderline, 10 7/16 x 7 5/16 inches, archival mounting. A very good, balanced impression, with exquisite detailing. This portrait of Bol was taken in the last year of his life, when he was 58.
