Image size 3 3/4 x 10 7/8 inches (303 x 244 mm); sheet size 17 7/8 x 11 7/8 inches (454 x 302 mm).

A fine, richly inked, painterly impression, in dark grey-green ink, on cream wove Japan, with full margins (1 to 3 1/8 inches), in excellent condition.

Avery cut his woodcuts himself, and printed them himself (sometimes with the help of his wife and daughter). Frequently he made an effort to use the grain of the wood itself, and even imitated it with knife cuts, so his woodcuts, such as Nude, express both his aesthetic vision and his very personal artistic craftsmanship.
