Nude at Bath
Walter Zeising (1876-1933), Nude at Bath, color woodcut, c. 1910, signed in pencil lower left. In good condition, with margins (remains of prior hinging verso, creasing left edge); 6 1/2 x 5, the sheet 9 1/4 x 6 3/4 inches.
A good impression, printed in veiled tones on a cream wove paper. No edition known.
Much of Zeising’s work consisted of complex city scenes, often etching, in black and white, so this woodcut is a bit of a departure for him. But it is a charming – and rare – example of an element of Zeising’s oeuvre outside of his usual subject matter.
