References: Delteil 49, Wittrock 39. Printed in olive green, on wove paper, numbered 47 in pencil, with the artist’s red monogram stamp lower right recto (Lugt 1338) (also initialed in the plate; Wittrock calls for this edition to be unsigned), the full sheet, 15 x 11 inches.

A fine fresh impression in excellent condition.
Rose Caron (Lucile Meuniez, 1857-1930) was already on the decline as an opera singer when this image was created. But she compensated for her deteriorating voice with dramatic skills. Her intense style has been captured here by Lautrec as she portrays Gretchen in Charles Gounod’s Faust.
